豊 亨 王 假之 勿憂 宜日中

Do not worry, for the king has come to celebrate the sacrifice. When the sun is in middle age, it is to celebrate the sacrifice.

Interpretation

The Pung Hexagram has Jin (Thunder) in the upper trigram and Ri (Fire) in the lower trigram. Jin represents thunder, and Ri represents fire and lightning. The image of this hexagram shows thunder and lightning occurring together. Thunder and lightning are mighty forces in the sky. Pung means great or vast.

In the commentary, Hyung refers to performing a sacrifice, and Ga means to reach or to go. Mulwoo signifies that there is no need for worry. Iljung refers to when the sun is at its peak, or at noon.

The commentary states that when a nation faces trouble, the king himself comes to perform sacrifices. In such a situation, there is no need to worry. The king is expected to conduct these rituals when the sun is at its zenith in the sky, signifying a moment of clarity and power.

初九 遇其配主,雖旬无咎,往有尙

Initial Nine: Encounter your true partner, although there is a period of waiting, there is still dignity.

Bae refers to the wife, as in "the lady of the house." Baeju refers to the lady of the house, and the term "Baeksujeongyeok" refers to the state sending emissaries. Shun means ten days. Sang refers to borrowing a box, which refers to the host. The oracle indicates that the person is currently in a favorable situation, as they are receiving hospitality during their travels. They will find good fortune in the near future.

六二 豐其篰,日中見斗。往得疑疾,有孚發若,吉.

Six Second: Fill the basket, at noon there is a fight. A disease will bring doubts, yet trust arises, good fortune.

The tree is supported and covered with a large canopy to block the sun, symbolizing protection from harmful influences. The mental confusion caused by a wandering spirit is linked to this situation, and removing the cause of disturbance will bring relief and clarity.

九三 豐其沛,日中見沫,折其右肱,无咎

Nine Third: Fill the basket, at noon there is foam, breaking the right arm, no harm.

The term "Pae" refers to a large covering, while "Ma" means a small star. The messenger, while traveling, had an accident and broke his right arm after being distracted by the small star during the day. However, there was no major issue with the mission. The person asking about the hexagram is currently in a situation of distraction and minor harm but will not face significant consequences. The task will not result in harm.

九四 豐其篰,日中見斗.遇其夷主,吉

Nine Fourth: Fill the basket, at noon there is a fight. Meeting your superior, good fortune.

Aid restores balance after delusion. The task at hand will be auspicious.

六五 來章,有慶譽,吉

Six Fifth: Coming with virtue, there is celebration and praise, good fortune.

The envoy completes his mission in Yin, earning both reward and honor for his success. The task at hand will overcome mental flaws to achieve goals, winning widespread praise and fortune.

上六 豐其屋,篰其家,闚其戶,闃其无人,三歲不覿,凶

Top Six: Fill the house, fill the basket, look through the door, silence, three years with no contact, disaster.

The envoy, struck mad again after Yin, leaves his family scattered and home a ruin for years. The task at hand loses wealth and kin to desolation, foretelling ruin unless you wait out the storm.
