Interpretation
The Ye Hexagram has Li (Fire) in the upper trigram and Gan (Mountain) in the lower trigram. Li represents fire, and Gan represents the mountain. The image of this hexagram shows fire on top of the mountain. The fire on the mountain does not stay for long, much like a traveler who does not remain in one place. Ye means a traveler.
In the commentary, Ye refers to a traveler, specifically pointing to King Wanghei of the Yin dynasty, who was a traveler. A slightly successful and favorable situation for a traveler suggests that the path of King Wanghei, as a traveler, was a foretelling of good fortune.
For someone drawing this hexagram, it signifies a time when they feel like a wandering traveler, uncertain, lonely, anxious, and in a difficult situation, much like being away from home.
